I. There is a problem in society today. That problem is;
Abortion. Women who are getting abortions have many reasons for doing so. For example, they are not ready, the child will not come out normal, they are financially in trouble, or they have been raped. There are many controversies about abortion and how the government should deal with the problem. One side of the issue fights the women to have the right to undergo an abortion and the other side of the issue fights for fetal right. There should be certain cases in which the women should be allowed to undergo an abortion. If the woman had been raped and she does not want to keep the child, then she should be allowed to abort the embryo. But if the woman decides that she does not want to keep the child after the first trimester, then she should not be allowed to abort the child. Even though we are democrat, we can see the republican side of abortion as well. We believe that the mother should have the right to decide if she wants to undergo an abortion or not. The government has not right to decide whether the women can undergo abortion or not. The problem in our society today is that some women decide to undergo an abortion after the first trimester. After the first trimester, the fetus forms a heartbeat and once the heartbeat has formed, the fetus is no longer a fetus, it is a human. The government should step in if the women decide to undergo an abortion after the first trimester. There should be a law against women undergoing an abortion after the first trimester. Also, if the government makes a law stating that women cannot undergo abortions at all, then women would start getting them done illegally. This could cause a very big problem, considering most people who perform the illegal abortions do not have a medical degree. Most of the illegal abortions end up in the death of the mother too. It would be better if we saw the women point-of-view and the government's point-of-view.

In the article, Abortion Overview, Neumann says that women beginning their career, married women concerned about family size, women who cannot afford a child, etc. are the kinds of women who usually seek abortion. In the early 1900s, women with these problems, used to get abortions done illegally, which resulted in death of the mother as well. In the article, Unsafe Abortions, the author says that nearly 80,000 mothers die each year due to illegal/unsafe abortions. Only 52% of all abortions happen before the 9th week of pregnancy. This means that the other half mostly likely undergo abortion after the first trimester or somewhere close to that. As it says in the article, Fetal Development, by the fourteenth week the fetus starts pumping blood, which means that there is now a heart. Having a heart definitely makes you a human and killing a human is morally wrong. In the article, Abortion Outlook, Neumann says that the social liberal and conservatives have battled in courts over the access to reproductive services. So you see, it is not only in the government where the liberals and conservatives fight over which side is correct, it is everywhere around the world. In the article, Abortion, it says that the most major debate concerning abortion comes from the disagreement of when life actually begins. Opinions on this time vary from person to person, from the time of conception to the moment of birth. No one ever agrees on one certain time when one can say this is when life begins. In the same article it says some people see the government restrictions on the female body and reproductive freedom as a patriarchy. Many women feel that if the government makes such a personal choice for them, then it is like another way that man can take over a woman. In the article, Teen Pregnancy, Newton says that 1 in 7 teenage pregnancies worldwide end in abortions. This adds up to about 2.5 million abortions in one year. Many of these abortions are probably done after the first trimester, which results in the killing of a person not a fetus.
